Interior, New Homes, and Residential

Hillcrest

Winmalee, NSW

Outworking his creative passions in practice, Robert loves not only designing, but building his own projects. In order to ensure the delivery of practical design solutions, Robert hones his skills, putting his hand to each and every trade. With a personal love for the repurposing ethic of Industrial style architecture, this residence and office embodies the character and charm of salvaged materials that form much of its structure and facade. A sensitive response to the steep site resulted in a stepped ground plane, maintaining the site’s height limit whilst maximising the site’s potential views over the Blue Mountains’ beautiful bushland.

Recycled brick, timber, steel and stone were employed extensively, ensuring our ethic for sustainability and environmental stewardship is embodied not only in our design, but in construction practices also. Like many of our projects, the proximity to bushland and the sites’ steep slope required the home to be built to the second highest bushfire zone rating of BAL-40. Therefore, the building’s form, structure, and finishes, needed met to strict regulations and certification.
